О мероприятии

Naturally with the current media frenzy surrounding Russia at this time it is quite hard to gain a meaningful overall picture of exactly what is happening especially to the people on the street in Russia.

Actually nothing is happening! It is very much business as usual as could be seen by the number of visitors that attended the recent Moscow MedShow.

"With the current political climate we were prepared for a slight decrease, however this was not the case, with 3,524 unique visitors attending making a 10% increase on our September event" said a delighted Kim Waddoup, CEO of the aiGroup.

Following its successful launch in 2013 the Moscow MedShow has grown considerably:-

- Sold stand space increased by 44%
- A 10% increase in the number of visitors(3,524)
- 73 Exhibiting organisations covering 23 destinations, 16% increase

Medical Tourism from Russia is not new and has been operating relatively quietly for many years with a number of specialised clinics around the world counting substantial number of Russian patients.

The Moscow MedShow was launched in 2013 to cater for this fast growing business providing a highly professional B2C Medical Tourism event in Russia's capital city

"We welcomed many more exhibiting organisations (73 in total) and we wanted to ensure that they were satisfied with the visitor flow and quality. I believe that we achieved both with high quality visitors/patients coming through the doors continuously over the two days" - continued Waddoup.

Whilst the quality of healthcare offered in Russia slowly increases, there is a definite demand for treatment abroad with patients requiring highly qualified doctors and high quality facilities.

One of the exhibitors, Dr Serkan Tasdelen, a heart surgeon from Sante Plus Turkey has been working with Russians for 5 years. He said,' Russians don's have the modern technology that other countries offer. Currently we have patients and after the show, expect many more Russians to follow.'

Jeff Nieuwenhuizen, Director of Medical Tourism for Thanyapura Heath, Thailand, said,' This was our first visit to Moscow, and our Phuket clinic already accepts a large number of Russians. Reaction has been good, a very positive reception. Many were looking for wellness options, and lifestyle change options, so in that sense it's highly successful as we are able to promote our name on the market.'

The attendees to the exhibition came from a complete cross section of the community with many looking for specific treatments. There was also a noted increase in the number of enquiries for cosmetic surgery in addition to wellness.

The third MedShow will take place 20-21 September 2014 in Moscow.

It is estimated that more than 70,000 Russians travel abroad for treatment each year, and the interest from the visitors at the March MedShow certainly proved that the market is strong and buoyant.
